Overall Purpose of Position


To take responsibility for the safe and efficient transportation of individuals accessing support from CoAction.

 

Main Responsibilities


  • To provide a high quality transport service at all times.

  • To be aware of the individual needs of all passengers at all times and to provide a service that meets these needs.

  • To develop a rapport and relationship with all passengers maintaining a motivated and enthusiastic approach to providing transport within CoAction.

  • To be familiar with and work within The CoAction Transport Policy.

  • To adhere to the rules of the road and practice safe driving at all times.

  • To maintain a health and safety conscious approach when driving the vehicle, and to practice good manual/patient handling techniques when interacting with all individuals receiving supports, safeguarding their welfare at all times.

  • To act in a professional manner when communicating with parents/guardians and members of the local community, ensuring your communication is accurate and timely.

  • To keep relevant staff informed on individuals requirements/needs /behavior.

  • To maintain the vehicles to a high standard, i.e. maintaining fuel levels, tyre check, oil and appropriate level of cleanliness.

  • To report any known vehicle defects to the Area /Deputy Manager.

  • To monitor maintenance intervals for designated vehicles, in conjunction with the vehicle dealer, and advise your Line Manager accordingly.

  • To monitor and maintain the Log Book as required and report any anomalies in its completion to the Area Manager in accordance with The Transport Policy.

  • To be familiar with and adhere to relevant legislation affecting your role – Health & Safety, Road Traffic Acts, etc.

  • To develop relevant skills and abilities by taking part in mandatory training, i.e. First Aid, Manual Handling and People Movement Training and other training courses as required.

  • To contribute in a positive and energetic manner to the overall development of CoAction and the services it provides.

  • To provide training and guidance to the staff team regarding driving techniques, use of wheelchair lifts an restraint and any other areas identified with your line manager.

  • All service user records and information must remain strictly confidential, and all necessary measures must be taken to ensure that this confidentiality is protected.



Driving Licence Requirements

  • A full clean Irish driving licence is required.

  • Bus Driver - B licence required

  • You are required to submit your driving licence prior to commencement of employment and on an annual basis thereafter to your Line Manager.

  • You are obliged to inform CoAction of any penalty points or convictions under the Road Traffic Legislation.
