Senior Psychologist
(CoAction West Cork Children's Disability Network Team)
Permanent Contract - 35 hours per week

Responsible to: Children's Disability Network Manager
Base: You will be providing comprehensive psychological services, including Autism assessments, within the West Cork
catchment area. Your case will be in Bantry, West Cork.

Overall Purpose of Position:
To work with the Psychology team in the provision of a comprehensive psychological services to children with complex developmental needs and disabilities and to complete autism assessments as part of the West Cork CDNT Autism Service. To be involved in the support and supervision of basic grade, assistant/trainee psychologists.
Main Responsibilities:
To provide a broad range of psychological services to children and their families. Psychology services may be provided directly to children or indirectly to parents/carers/family members/teachers etc. Psychology services may be provided through face to face consultation or through telehealth, on a one to one basis or in groups.
To complete a range of psychological assessments as required e.g. cognitive assessments, assessment of adaptive behaviour, mental health screening etc. Also responsible for completing Autism assessments as part of the West Cork CDNT Autism Service.
To provide a range of psychological interventions as required including but not exclusive to providing support with parenting support, children’s mental health/well-being/distressed behaviour/children’s emotional regulation, support in relation diagnosed conditions e.g. Autism, physical and sensory disabilities, diagnosed syndromes etc.
To liaise with children and their parents and families as appropriate with regard to assessments, outcomes, interventions and reviews.
To actively participate in the WCCDNT internal meetings, e.g. psychology meetings, meetings with teachers, Individual Family Service Plans, Initial Team Assessments, Team Reviews, interagency meetings etc. as appropriate.
To work as part of the interdisciplinary team and to be involved in team meetings, assessments, reviews and interventions.
To provide professional reports and to participate in case conferences and other consultancy work as may be required.
To liaise with other professionals and organisations as appropriate and to represent the organisation at meetings, seminars, conferences, etc.
To keep records and submit reports as may be required by the Children’s Disability Network Manager/CoAction CEO or designated Line Manager.
To provide training and support to parents e.g. Early Bird, Early Bird Plus and Teen Life Parent Training Programmes.
To provide in-service training to WCCDNT staff as required or other relevant persons.
To take responsibility for ones own continued professional development.
To actively use supervision to benefit one’s professional practice.
To carry out research relevant to the organisation as required.
To keep up to date with best practice procedures and at all times to work within the parameters of the professional Code of Ethics as laid down by the Psychological Society of Ireland and also the ethos of CoAction West Cork
Supervision:
To support and supervise as required assistant, trainee or basic grade psychologists.
To identify training needs and support ongoing professional development among psychology staff.
General Particulars:
This is a 5 day post (35 hours per week)
Annual Leave – 25 days
Remuneration:
The remuneration for this post will be based on the CoAction salary scale for a Senior Psychologist.
Other Requirements:
Each candidate must have their own means of transport and a full driving licence.
